CentOS (all distributions):

yum install mysql

Starting mysql (CentOS 5,6):

service mysqld start

Starting mysql (CentOS 7)

systemctl start mysql

Ubuntu (all distributions):

apt-get install mysql

Starting mysql Ubuntu (all distributions):

service mysql start
